OTMA’S Glory
OTMA's Glory - 75 - 115 mins
1896 - 1918. OTMA’s Glory takes place during the glittering era of Fabergé, Tchaikovsky and Chekov in St Petersburg, Russia the great divide between rich and poor, the rise to power of revolutionaries and the eventual downfall of the 300 year old Romanov dynasty.
At the centre of this dramatic period of history are four sisters, Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia. To show their unity the girls chose the name ‘Otma’ and would sign gifts and letters using this name. They are the daughters of Nichlas II, last Tsar of Russia and Alexandra, and sisters to Alexis, their little brother who is not only heir to the throne of Russia but suffers from haemophilia - a catastrophic twist of fate that leads to tragedy.
These lives, woven in with the fictional lives of two other families - Mushka and her peasant sons and Potatotov and Stritch, the dysfunctional urban family form the core of ‘OTMA’S Glory’.
A glorious play full of tragedy and humour that cannot fail to move both performers and audiences.
